Venezuelan baseball players Jackson Chourio, William Contreras, and Antonio Senzatela are two victories away from securing a historic double by winning both the World Baseball Classic and the World Series in the same calendar year, holding a 2-0 lead with the Milwaukee Brewers over the Tampa Bay Rays in October 2026.
The Milwaukee Brewers hold a 2-0 advantage in the 2026 World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays after securing victories of 3-2 on Friday and 5-4 on Saturday, requiring just two more wins to claim the Major League Baseball title. This puts Chourio, Contreras, and Senzatela on the brink of an unprecedented milestone for Latin American baseball following their triumph with the Venezuelan national team in the World Baseball Classic last March, according to the Confederation of Professional Baseball of the Caribbean (CBPC).
Fantasy & Market Impact
- Milwaukee’s 2-0 series lead over Tampa Bay requires the team to secure two additional wins to claim the championship.
Historical Precedents and Rare Company
Achieving both the World Baseball Classic and World Series titles in a single season is an extreme rarity in professional baseball. The CBPC noted that only two individual players have accomplished the feat previously. American players Alex Bregman and Luke Gregerson reached the milestone in 2017 by winning the Classic with the United States national team before capturing the World Series with the Houston Astros.

The potential for this rare double extends beyond the active roster. Néstor Corredor, a member of the Milwaukee organization who served as a batting practice pitcher for the champion Venezuelan squad earlier in the year, also aims to claim both celebrations from his technical role.
Series Momentum and the Road Ahead
The Brewers seized control of the 2026 Fall Classic through hard-fought margins. Milwaukee took the 2-0 series lead via victories of 3-2 on Friday and 5-4 on Saturday. The club needs only two more triumphs to seal the championship.
| Player / Staff | WBC 2026 Team | MLB 2026 Club | Series Status |

| William Contreras | Venezuela | Milwaukee Brewers | Leading 2-0 |
| Antonio Senzatela | Venezuela | Milwaukee Brewers | Leading 2-0 |
