At the end of August Jason’s mane was still on. It’s been different since Monday: In an Instagram reel, he shows how he can shave his long braids piece by piece.

Aquaman without a maneJason Momoa shaves his head for the ocean

Broadly built, muscular, full beard, long hair: Jason Momoa’s look is memorable – but now one attribute poorer. The wavy mane is gone and there is a reason behind it.

Whether on the red carpet or on screen in his roles as Khal Drogo or Aquaman: When you think of Jason Momoa, the corresponding long, wavy mane inevitably comes to mind, which naturally has the beach waves of our dreams. But that’s exactly what the actor said goodbye to yesterday – for the sake of the ocean.

Leave hair for attention

During a visit to Hawaii, Jason expressed shock at the amount of plastic floating around in the ocean there. The actor was born in Honolulu himself, his father is from the archipelago. In addition, he is repeatedly involved in various campaigns for a clean environment. In order to attract as many viewers as possible to his video and to attract attention, the last one now called for his hair.

Against plastic in Hawaii

“I’m doing this to fight against single-use plastic,” he says on Monday, September 5, into the cell phone camera, while a woman behind him is shaving off his long braids bit by bit. “I’m tired of using plastic bottles.” And Jason isn’t done yet: «Even plastic forks – all that stuff. It ends up on our earth and in our ocean. Do what you can to avoid it.” Unfortunately, the content is not quite enough to show the end result of the shaved head. The internet is waiting.

Incidentally, the campaign is not entirely altruistic: one of Jason’s suggestions is to switch to water from aluminum bottles. A product that a bottled water company he founded sells purely by coincidence.
