(CNN) –– Julia Roberts spoke during an interview about her ex-boyfriend Matthew Perry, the late star of “Friends.”
In conversation with “Entertainment Tonight”, the actress reflected on the loss of Perry, who died in October at the age of 54.
“The sudden death of someone so young is devastating,” Roberts said. “I think, you know, it helps us all appreciate what we have and move forward in a positive way as best we can,” she added.
Roberts and Perry dated for about three months in the 1990s, when the actress guest-starred on “Friends.” Perry wrote about her brief romance with Roberts in her autobiography “Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing.”
“I sent her three dozen red roses and the card said, ‘The only thing more exciting than the prospect of you being on the show is that I finally have an excuse to send you flowers,'” she shared in her book.
Roberts, Perry wrote, seemed as if “she had been put on this planet to make the world smile, and now, specifically, me. I was smiling like a 15-year-old on his first date.”
