KAI Displays FA-50 at Marrakech Air Show 2026 for African Market

Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) is participating in the Marrakech Air Show 2026, marking its presence as the sole South Korean corporate exhibitor at the North African and Middle Eastern defense exhibition.

The event, running through October 10, marks the eighth iteration of the biennial aerospace and defense gathering launched in 2008. Approximately 200 companies representing 27 countries have converged in Marrakech to display advanced aerospace engineering and defense equipment.

FA-50 Display Takes Center Stage for Moroccan Acquisition Bid

KAI has dedicated a significant portion of its exhibition space to the FA-50, tailoring its presentation to address the Moroccan Air Force’s active acquisition program for advanced training aircraft. The manufacturer is emphasizing the dual capability of the platform, which functions as both an advanced trainer and a light combat asset.

The aircraft supports pilot training alongside direct combat missions, a versatility that has driven its adoption across international markets. Current operators flying the aircraft in active service include Indonesia, Iraq, Philippines, Thailand, Poland, and Malaysia.

To substantiate its pitch to the Moroccan government, the company relies on operational data gathered across these global fleets. This historical performance record forms the core of KAI’s strategy to expand its defense footprint across the African continent through the Marrakech exhibition.

South Korean Firm Promotes Aircraft and Holds Bilateral Meetings

Alongside the flagship trainer, the South Korean firm’s booth features scale models and digital content highlighting the KF-21, the MAH amphibious attack helicopter, and the MIRON armed helicopter.

Senior executives are utilizing the exhibition timeline to conduct bilateral meetings with high-ranking government and military delegations. Planned discussions involve defense officials from Morocco, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia to advance ongoing sales talks for both fixed-wing and rotary platforms.

“This Marrakech Air Show is an important opportunity to directly inform Morocco and key African customers of the excellent performance and global operational experience of the FA-50,” said Kim Yong-min, Senior Vice President of KAI’s Business Division.
