Friday, at the stroke of noon, a man illegally residing was arrested at the exit of the Carrefour Express store on the Place des Guillmins in Liège. a security guard had noticed the suspicious behavior of an individual who concealed goods under his clothes.
When the store guard intervened to arrest him, the thief produced a knife before fleeing.
At the exit of the store, an SNCB agent tried, in turn, to arrest the fugitive but again, the latter exhibited his knife to ensure his escape. A police patrol was called to the scene and the suspect was eventually arrested without too much difficulty.
He was deprived of liberty for acts qualified as theft with violence but also for carrying a weapon. Saturday, after spending a night in a cell, the illegal resident was referred to the Liège prosecutor’s office. His case was put on trial with a request for an arrest warrant.
