The parliamentary spokesperson of the PP has “flatly” denied this Thursday that he had held an alleged meeting with Koldo García or that he had received a call to do so. “We have not maintained any personal relationship with Mr. Koldo García,” he said early on Antena 3. Shortly after, he added in the halls of Congress: “I have never met with any member of the plot. Yes, I have a relationship with members of the plot every week here, in the Congress of Deputies, with Mrs. [Francina] Armengol [presidenta del Congreso y exjefa del Gobierno balear] in the Board of Spokespersons, in the plenary session with Mr. Ábalos, with Mr. Santos Cerdán [secretario de Organización del PSOE]. “That is my entire relationship with the members of the plot,” she stressed. The PSOE has asked Alberto Núñez Feijóo for explanations for these alleged contacts from his number two. The leader of the PP has denied any relationship with the plot. Upon his arrival at the Senate this morning, Feijóo responded to the question about whether he is the “Alberto” cited in the case summary: “Evidently, no.”

The investigation by the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard has revealed that the Balearic Executive’s claim to Management Solutions – the commercial epicenter of the plot in the alleged rigging of the awards – for almost three million euros for the The poor quality of the masks supplied during the pandemic led to various meetings and telephone conversations between García and Cueto. In them, both tried to prevent the demand of the Government, which was then headed by the socialist Francina Armengol, from succeeding. According to the order known this Thursday, these conversations “reaffirm the influence that Koldo would be exerting so that Baleares’ claim did not prosper through two different people and, therefore, favoring Soluciones de Gestión and its real owner, the investigated Cueto. ”.

The judicial resolution details that in those conversations, from the end of November and judicially intervened, Ábalos’s former advisor states: “I am going to do something… I am going to bounce it.” Cueto, he shows his skepticism and responds: “But… Does what you are going to do make sense?… I ask… because if we are going to go blind…”. The investigators, who believe that those involved suspected since the end of November 2023 that they were being followed, infer from their content that Koldo García had had access to the allegations made by the plot company, to the administrative file initiated by the Balearic administration, and that they had been transferred to third parties for review.

The magistrate highlights that in the course of these calls “a change of focus is seen in Soluciones [de Gestión] “in the event that the Balearic Administration were to remain administratively silent regarding the appeal raised within the claim made.” This, because it considers that this possible stoppage would be the most effective way to prevent the plot from having to face the million-dollar financial claim for the poor quality of the masks. It is in this context that the conversation between Cueto and García takes place, in which the latter boasts of having met Tellado and “Alberto”.

However, the efforts of Ábalos’ former advisor did not stop there. In fact, in that same conversation, Koldo affirms to his interlocutor that he had also commented on the matter of the claim to the “former ministry where I worked before”, in reference to the Department of Transportation, and that from there they had assured him that the legal file It had no legal path whatsoever. Two days later, on December 4, the businessman informed a third party involved, Íñigo Rotaeche, that in principle the Balearic Administration had no intention of continuing with the claim: “This was a favor that your neighbor was asking. [en referencia a Koldo García]…him and his former boss… and it seems that the other one has said yes, because they have given him another favor in return.” Investigators point out that the former boss is none other than Ábalos himself, as can be seen “from the development of the telephone intervention in progress.”

Three days later, on December 7, Koldo García called Cueto again around eight-thirty in the afternoon to inform him that “everything is on the right track,” supposedly in reference to the issue of the Balearic Government’s claim. Ábalos’s former advisor assures the businessman that he had also been told that “no one needs to be seen and the more unnoticed the better.” Next, Koldo García added that he would use his means to put him “in contact”, without specifying who or for what. On December 14, Koldo García informed him that the issue of the Balearic Islands file was “more than done.”
