In March, we observe a leak of the roadmap of Motorola. This disclosed the company’s plans to launch four more Edge smartphones in 2022. One of the possible options is called Motorola Edge 30. We could see the picture of the device alongside the Moto G 5G.
Features of the Motorola Edge 30
Leaker Evan Blass posted the footage to 91mobiles. The first striking and remarkable thing concerns the strong similarity between the Edge 30 and and the Motorola Edge+ already out. The back keeps the same configuration of the photo block with 3 sensors. This includes a 50 MP main sensor, a 50 MP wide-angle and a 2 MP depth sensor. The front side keeps the same central hole, it houses the 32 MP front camera.
L’Edge+ has the best Qualcomm chipset, the high-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The basic Edge 30 will position itself as a mid-range smartphone. It will therefore be combined with the Snapdragon 778G+, with 6/8 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of storage. Compared to the 4,800 mAh of the Edge+, the Edge 30 will make do with a 4,020 mAh battery. The front will be adorned with a 6.55-inch OLED screen. The latter will refresh at 144Hz and offer a resolution of 1080 x 2400.
A Dimensity 700 for the Moto G 5G
The Moto G 5G would have similarities in its appearance with the Edge 30. The configurations of the sensors on the back and on the front would prove to be similar. However, it would only have a 50 MP sensor for the main one. The latter would be supported by 2 2 MP lenses for macros and depth. The selfie camera would reach 13 MP. The edges of the Moto G 5G would gain in thickness. The fingerprint scanner would fit into the power button of the device.
The Moto G 5G specs would indicate a more affordable price, at least compared to the Edge 30. The smartphone would run with the Mediatek Dimensity 700, combined with 4/6 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of storage. The screen stands as the biggest loser. The resolution is reduced to only 720 x 1,600 and refreshes at 90 Hz. This drop would be rewarded with a powerful 5,000 mAh battery. The charging power will unfortunately not exceed 15 W.
Conclusion
So far, the launch date of the Motorola Edge 30 is still unclear. But the report whispers a worldwide release before the end of April 2022. As for the Moto G 5G, its availability still remains an enigma.
