The Coast Guard said that at around 6:30 a.m. yesterday, the ship issued a “406” maritime distress signal 0.7 miles outside the Wukan fishing port in Penghu. The Jinma Peng branch dispatched online patrol boats for quick rescue, and the 13th patrol area also established a forward command post at the same time.
The Coast Guard dispatched the PP-10087 boat of the Coast Guard Team to check and found a “KYOTO” freighter drifting at sea. No response was received after radio contact, and it was concluded that the ship might be sailing without power. In addition, it was found that there was still one powered push boat “KYOTO 1” missing, and there were 6 South Korean crew members on board. After being notified by the National Search Center and transferred to the Korean Search and Rescue Center to assist in contacting the owner of the K ship, they were unable to contact the 6 South Koreans on board. Registered crew members, that is, start the expansion of search and rescue on the coast, sea and air.
Since the distress signal “406” issued by “KYOTO 1” was either an accidental touch or a wreck, the Coast Guard did not rule out the distress signal issued by the ship before the wreck, and immediately dispatched the Pingtung ship and ships 10038, 10059, and 10071 Boats, 10089 boats and other 1 ship and 4 boats, as well as 3 sorties of helicopters, started to expand the search and rescue of coast, sea and air.
Yesterday, the Port Bureau of the Ministry of Communications quickly dispatched the tugboat “Salvage Rigger” to the sea area. At 6:27 am today, 1.2 miles off the coast of Dongjiyu Island, it successfully boarded the cargo ship “KYOTO” to complete the mooring. Towed to Kaohsiung Port and booked to arrive at 6 pm today.
The Coast Guard said that at 11:25 this morning, the 10071 boat found 2 bodies in the sea 4 miles northeast of the right corner of Penghu Li. 3 sorties continue to search and rescue.
