Former President Mauricio Macri announced this Sunday that he will not be a presidential candidate in the October elections and maintained that he made the decision “convinced” that “we must enlarge the political space” of the opposition alliance Together for Change (JxC).
“I want to ratify the decision that I will not be a candidate in the next election, I do so convinced that we must enlarge the political space for the change that we initiated and that we have to inspire others with our actions,” the former president said in a video from six minutes posted on his YouTube channel.
The curious thing about the case was that a moment of his speech exemplified his decision with the behavior of the Argentine National Team during the World Cup in Qatar and obtaining the title.
“Each of the players fully took on the challenge; they all shone, they all suffered, they all fought in the end, they all won. The leader did not win, the team won and that is how all Argentines won. This success was the product of a shared responsibility and I believe in that way of governing. This is how we governed between 2015 and 2019. There were no personalisms, ”Macri explained this Sunday.
And he added: “The team bet on team leadership, as a whole. He bet on the sum of individuals behind a goal despite having the best player in the history of mankind. But the rest did not expect him to be the one to ensure victory.
Facing the presidential elections, Macri then stressed that he trusts “that they will elect the one who best represents us” and concluded his speech by remarking that “we will never again have a puppet as president.”
