The Director General of Public Security, Major General Abbas Ibrahim, announced, in an interview with Al-Iraqiya News Channel, which will be broadcast tomorrow, that “the agreement of the second million tons of Iraqi fuel to Lebanon is proceeding positively and will be completed soon.”

He revealed that “the crisis of delaying the renewal of Lebanese passports will gradually end at the beginning of the new year.”

He pointed out that “the channels of dialogue in Lebanon regarding the file of the President of the Republic seem to be blocked at some points, and the dialogue is continuing.”

He pointed out that “there are 1.330 million displaced Syrians in Lebanon who do not wish to return to Syria.”

Ibrahim affirmed that “countries intervened to stop Abdullah Sabawi’s extradition to Iraq,” announcing that “we did not succumb to these pressures.” He said, “Lebanon is fully prepared to cooperate with Iraq regarding anti-corruption files.”

He stressed, “We are keen to strengthen and correct relations with the brothers in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and the file is progressing slowly.”

In response to a question, he said: “The Popular Mobilization Forces is an Iraqi institution that stood by its brothers in the security forces to defend Iraq.”
