“Man, I worked in the No”: Atria and Cortázar star in a tense crossover in the National State | National

René Cortázar and Fernando Atria starred in a tense exchange during the last broadcast of the National State program, where both were invited to debate the proposal for a new constitution and the Exit Plebiscite.

In a harsh verbal confrontation, the participation of Fernando Atria and René Cortázar ended in the program “National state” Broadcast this Sunday night on TVN.

The harsh intersection arose when Michelle Bachelet’s former Minister of Transportation asked the host of the program for a minute to express her opinion, just before the block ended.

It was like that Constance Santa Maria He gave Cortázar a few seconds, a moment that was interrupted by Atria.

Specifically, when the former ruled on the agreement reached this week by ruling partiesseeking to make improvements to the constitutional proposal delivered by the Convention.

This was the dialogue:

-Cortázar: The agreement shows that in the end the thesis put forward by the Communist Party, and a large part of the Broad Front, that there was no need to make substantive reforms to the (proposal for a new) constitution, but that the project, as the president said of the Communist Party: “I agree 99%”. What this text (the agreement) shows is that the changes that are introduced are so poor and, as Fernando says, they are fundamentally explanatory, it really shows that the will to reform the “Approbation” does not exist substantively.

-Atria: I am surprised to hear René Cortázar speak, because it is to hear the supporters of the “Yes” for the Plebiscite of October 5 (1988).

-Cortázar: No, I worked, Fernando, I worked against the dictatorship and for the “No” when you were doing other things. So please, you have to have respect for the trajectory of each one.

-Atria: That’s why I say I’m surprised, because the arguments are the same…

-Cortázar: No, it is not true. That is the present ideology. Cancel.

-Atria: This is not canceling, it’s just an opinion. Can I have an opinion?

-Cortázar: Disqualify no, you cannot disqualify people.

-Atria: If the “No” won, what was going to happen? Chile was going to become Cuba… this is what the “Yes” said.

-Cortázar: But if I, man, worked on the “No”, but please…. That’s an unwarranted personal attack. That is a personal disqualification.

-Atria: It surprises me precisely because you have a history in this, that one would have expected that the Rejection speech was not the “Yes” speech.

-Cortázar: You have to discuss ideas, not disqualify people. I did not disqualify you in anything and you did here. To say that I am a representative of the “Yes” is a disqualification.

-Atria: Make an effort to understand what you don’t like before complaining. What I am saying is that your speech is analogous.

At that moment, the journalist who led the television space decided to end the intervention of both politicians, however, the moment was widely commented on social networks.
