Massive Attack is set to make a long-awaited return to Rock Werchter 2027, anchoring the opening night as the official Thursday headliner. More than two decades have passed since the pioneering trip-hop ensemble last performed at the Belgian festival, with their previous appearance dating back to June 27, 2003.
The four-day music festival will run from Thursday, July 1, through Sunday, July 4, at the Festivalpark in Werchter. Led by founding members 3D (Robert Del Naja) and Daddy G (Grant Marshall), the group brings a politically charged mix of hip-hop, soul, reggae, dub, post-punk, and electronics back to the massive outdoor stage.
Reviewing their recent tour stops, the Belgian newspaper De Morgen described a typical performance by the Bristol-based collective as “musically sublime, visually ruthless.” Organizers confirmed the booking as part of a growing roster of international acts slated for the upcoming summer edition.
Festival Lineup and Ticket Details
With the addition of Massive Attack, the Rock Werchter 2027 lineup continues to take shape. The group joins a diverse slate of previously announced headliners and performers, including Tame Impala, SOMBR, Muse, Angèle, Sam Fender, and Turnstile.

Festival organizers have structured ticket pricing for the 2027 event across several tiers. A standard four-day festival pass is priced at €320. In a shift for this edition, the festival has also introduced a new two-day ticket option costing €259, alongside standard single-day passes priced at €142.
Pre-registration for tickets is currently open, allowing fans to secure priority access before general sales commence. Public ticket sales officially open on Friday, October 30, at 10:00 a.m.
Musical Legacy and Activism
Formed in Bristol in the late 1980s, Massive Attack helped define the trip-hop genre, blending moody electronica with deep basslines and eclectic guest vocalists. Beyond their studio output, the band remains known for integrating sharp socio-political commentary and environmental activism into their live productions.

Their return to Werchter marks a significant milestone for longtime European fans who have waited nearly twenty-four years to see the group back in the Festivalpark. Additional artists and stage schedules are expected to be announced in the coming months as preparations for the July festival continue.
