The Deputy Secretary General 1 and spokesperson for the Union of the Gabonese People (UPG), Serge Alain Nzamba, announced Saturday March 2, 2024 in a statement, that Mathieu Mboumba Nziengui is no longer the president of the party, according to a decision of the court of first instance of Libreville rendered on March 2, 2024.

“Justice ended up vindicating us and we gave ourselves the mission of taking up the challenge of organizing a congress which will restore the party to legitimate and legal leaders so that the party regains its letters of nobility”declared Mr. Nzamba, visibly happy.

At the party headquarters located in Awendje in 4th district of Libreville, Serge Alain Nzamba made the trip with some members of the party’s Executive Secretariat. These are the party executives who were incriminated by Mathieu Mboumba Nziengui.

Indeed, the former president of the UPG had filed a complaint on September 21, 2023 at the Libreville court of first instance against members of the Executive Secretariat for “defamation, disturbance of public order and attack on his honor”. The latter had also denounced his scabrous and approximate management of the party.

“He was elected in 2016, his mandate ended in 2019 and since 2019, he has been illegal and illegitimacy, we let him know, that’s why he took us to court,” he said. he observed.

According to article 14 of the party’s statutes, the secretary general will now act in the interim until the organization of the long-awaited congress by the party founded by the late charismatic opponent Pierre Mamboundou whose “vision of the community was that the “general interest must take precedence over personal interest.”
