Dance, music, song, costumes, images, memories, performances and the dance ensemble of groups make up this year’s puzzle of events organized on Wednesday, May 8 by the municipality of Patras in collaboration with the Florists’ Association for the celebration of May Day.
The Ypsila Alonia and Omonoia squares are also a reference point for this year’s actions. Thousands of natives are expected to attend a dance and music festival with dances and songs from all over Greece in the square of Ypsile Alonia, a sample of the greatness of amateur creation and expression.
In Ypsilon Alonia square, more than 600 male and female dancers from 32 dance clubs will once again leave their mark this year.
The bands will gather at 6.30 in the afternoon in the upper part of Trion Navarchon square and then they will parade around the perimeter of Ypsilon Alonia square wearing their traditional costumes.
The program will start at 7.30 pm with the groups presenting traditional dances on the two lofts that will be set up.
The dance is organized by the Dance Department of the Municipality of Patras in collaboration with the Institute of Intercultural Relations.
At 9.30 in the evening in Omonia Square, a concert will begin with the “Bandarte” Orchestra presenting artistic, rebetika, old folk and political songs.
