Media: Ubisoft shareholders plan to sell the company

Shareholders of the French gaming company Ubisoft are considering the option of selling it, according to Bloomberg, citing its sources. So far, all thoughts about the absorption of the studio are in their infancy.

There are no open talks about a Ubisoft merger with anyone else, because it is not clear whether the founder of the company, Yves Guillemot, who owns most of the company’s shares, is ready for such a step. Sources do not yet give guarantees that any deal will take place at all.

Bloomberg noted that Ubisoft’s capitalization decreased by 41% over the year. After rumors about a possible sale of the corporation, the value of its shares rose by 11% in a day.

In 2010, the Vivendi conglomerate already tried to take over Ubisoft, but in the course of the proceedings, the Chinese Tencent took over part of the company. And rumors about Microsoft have been circulating since 2019.
