Merchant murdered and burned inside his house

Neighbors remember that on Sunday night, while many were celebrating Children’s Day, they saw him share a few drinks, outside his house, with some women.

The smell of smoke in the middle of the night this Monday alerted the residents of the El Parquecito sector, in Maturín. They knew something was not right.

When people came out of their houses to find out what was happening, they saw that the house of their neighbor, merchant Orlando José Figuera Sánchez (59), was on fire.

Actions began immediately to put out the fire and help his neighbor.

Breaking down the door, they got the man dead. At the moment they believed that the victim had died from smoke inhalation, but they found him bloodied and with multiple stab wounds to the chest, reports the Monagas Newspaper on its website.

It was learned that some of the man’s belongings were missing from the house, as well as the merchandise that he sold.

Neighbors remember that on Sunday night, while many were celebrating Children’s Day, they saw him share a few drinks, outside his house, with some women.

They themselves assured that they did not hear strange noises, they only perceived the smell of smoke and left their houses to see what was happening.

Commissions from the fire department arrived at the site, who finished putting out the fire and began the rigorous investigations to determine the origin of the fire.

Officials from the Scientific, Criminal and Criminalistics Investigations Corps (Cicpc), carried out the removal of the corpse for the necropsy of law, which showed that he had penetrating puncture wounds in the thorax and burn injuries.

Authorities presume that the authors of the act, after murdering him, burned the house to erase evidence.
