Moscow City Attorney Mia Bautista to Step Down After Eight Years

Moscow City Attorney Mia Bautista is stepping down from her role at the end of the year to transition into the private sector, bringing to a close more than eight years of municipal service for the city in Idaho, the City of Moscow reported on October 20, 2026.

Eight Years Shaping Municipal Law in Moscow

Bautista has led the City Attorney’s office since taking the position in 2018. Before stepping into her municipal role, she spent a decade as a Deputy Prosecutor with the Nez Perce County Prosecutor’s Office. Prior to that tenure, she worked for six years as a Deputy Prosecutor with the Latah County Prosecutor’s Office.

Her legal background is rooted in the region, having earned her law degree from the University of Idaho College of Law. Beyond her daily prosecutorial and municipal duties, Bautista maintains active involvement within the state’s broader legal community. She serves on the Idaho State Bar’s Character and Fitness Committee.

Her contributions to the profession have drawn formal recognition from state legal bodies in recent years. The Idaho State Bar Board of Commissioners presented her with their Service Award in 2023, acknowledging her exemplary work for both the legal profession and Idaho citizens. Two years later, in 2025, she received the Idaho Municipal Attorneys Pillar of the Community Award for her extensive work in municipal law.
