With a dose of humor and a prisoner’s uniform, however, the leader of the Russian opposition appeared earlier in January at the Arctic detention center where he was transferred this month.
“I’m out of money because of your decisions, so send,” were some of his last words, which he jokingly uttered in a video, while he said he was still waiting for a Christmas message that he didn’t get because he was away.
The prison where Navalny was taken is called “Polar Wolf”, it is considered one of the harshest and concerns those who have committed criminal offences. It is located in Harp, 1,900 kilometers northeast of Moscow.
In his latest social media posts, Navalny sent his wife a Valentine’s Day message. “Everything is like a song with you. Between us there are cities, the take-off lights of airports, blue blizzards and thousands of kilometers. But I feel that you are near me every second and I love you more and more” he had written among other things.

Navalny’s death
According to the protothema, Navalny died in penal colony No. 3 in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region, the regional department of the Federal Penitentiary Service reported on Friday.
“On February 16 of this year, in the penal colony No. 3, convict Alexei Navalny felt unwell after a walk, almost immediately losing consciousness. Medical personnel from the facility immediately arrived and an emergency medical team was called,” the statement said.
“All the necessary resuscitation measures were carried out, but they did not yield positive results. Emergency doctors confirmed the convict’s death. The cause of death is under investigation,” the statement added.
The Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) is carrying out all necessary checks in connection with the death of Alexei Navalny, said Dmitry Peskov, the Russian President’s spokesman, in the Kremlin’s first reaction.
