Today (February 15, 2022), the National Astronomical Research Institute (PSD) reveals on the night of Makha Bucha every year. You can see that the full moon is always bright alongside Regulus in the constellation Lion. including on the night of February 16, 2022, which is this year’s Makha Bucha Day

The constellation Lion (Leo) was named for the constellation of ancient Indian astronomy as Magha, and sometimes the name “Maha” is used with Regulus. (also known as Leo’s Heart) as the brightest star and reference to the constellation.

The constellation Magha is also the origin of the Indian month of Magha. including Makha Bucha Day which means offering sacrifices on the full moon day of the month of Makha
