CJ OliveYoung is expanding its retail footprint in the United States by opening three new stores in California shopping malls operated by Simon Property Group, targeting a target opening timeline in the first half of next year, Hankyung reported.
The Korean health and beauty retailer will place its new locations inside Del Amo Fashion Center, Brea Mall, and Fashion Valley. The move follows the opening of OliveYoung’s first American store in Pasadena last May and a subsequent location at Westfield Century City in Los Angeles, building out a contiguous retail network across Southern California.
Mall Locations and Regional Expansion
Del Amo Fashion Center sits in Torrance south of Los Angeles, while Brea Mall operates in Brea within Orange County. Fashion Valley serves as a prominent shopping destination in San Diego. Together, these sites will connect the Los Angeles retail cluster down through Orange County and into San Diego.
Simon Property Group manages the commercial real estate for all three properties. Del Amo features more than 250 specialty stores including Nordstrom, Macy’s, and Apple. Brea Mall houses over 170 retail shops alongside major department stores, and Fashion Valley hosts upwards of 200 stores anchored by luxury brands like Louis Vuitton and Dior alongside traditional department stores.
| Mall Name | Location | Notable Anchors / Scale |
|---|---|---|
| Del Amo Fashion Center | Torrance, CA | Nordstrom, Macy’s, Apple (250+ stores) |
| Brea Mall | Brea, Orange County, CA | Major department stores (175+ stores) |
| Fashion Valley | San Diego, CA | Louis Vuitton, Dior, department stores (200+ stores) |
Placing stores inside high-traffic regional shopping centers allows OliveYoung to capture foot traffic from consumers already visiting for apparel, dining, or leisure.
OliveYoung Connects Physical Stores with Digital Fulfillment
The physical store network links directly to OliveYoung’s dedicated US online store. Orders are supported by a local fulfillment infrastructure rooted in a Bloomington, California distribution center. Shoppers who discover products inside the brick-and-mortar storefronts can reorder items digitally.
The physical spaces offer hands-on features modeled after the brand’s domestic Korean outlets. The Pasadena launch introduced roughly 5,000 items spanning some 400 beauty and wellness brands, alongside testing stations for cleansers, skin diagnosis tools, and skincare consultations.
In the American market, OliveYoung competes directly with established beauty giants like Sephora and Ulta Beauty.
