Olymel closes two other factories in Quebec

Olymel announces the closure of its plants in Blainville and Laval, which will result in the loss of 170 jobs.

The date of cessation of operations has been set for April 28, the pork and poultry processing company announced in a press release on Wednesday.

The Blainville and Laval plants have 134 and 36 employees respectively.

These two establishments specialize in the production of hams, pâtés and charcuterie sold under various brands, including La Tour Eiffel and Nostrano.

“Most of these brands will be maintained and production volumes will be distributed among other Olymel establishments, mainly in pork further processing plants. The fate of the buildings housing the two establishments will subsequently be the subject of an assessment between now and the final closure, ”he said.
