Oroub Sobh: “Between Alaa and Sherine (Jeet)…”

Between Alaa and Shireen (Jet) .. a city that shines.. the blaring blange and the usurped waters of Jordan .. where there is no cry for sovereignty!!

Have you stopped and thought about how we, the people, interact with the content presented to us, or with the issues that the media forcibly presents or conceals, and which social networking sites displace?

Have you for a moment asked yourselves about your moral constants towards the scandalous world whose sacred slogan has become bad news is good news

In a country whose foreign debt has reached more than 158 billion dollars

Let’s conduct a popular referendum on who is the most famous in the past two weeks?

Alaa Abdel Fattah or Hossam Habib?

The first is a face of the revolution in Egypt, a political prisoner who abused him, his family, and his lawyer, who was imprisoned for defending him in front of the second man, who is said to be singing. He married a well-known singer, and he is the hero of multiple scandals bearing stories of severe abuse, drug abuse, theft, and what was hidden was greater!

Do people rise to bad news because they are interested in criticism and correction! Or is gossip and precedent in commenting on scandals what drives them?

Within weeks, how did the sentence (I arrived in Dubai with 300 dollars and transferred it to millions) become circulating in public conversations!! Who believes that the illusion of garishness and endless regret in reality shows is what some see as the engine for the aspirations of Arab youth, who are politically and economically crushed, towards wealth and fame?!

How does this false luster numb people’s feelings about their world accelerating towards economic recession and raging war!

No one wants to hear about the hundreds of thousands who lost and will lose their jobs that made them and their families able to live with an average degree of human dignity!

Or about people who lose their freedom because they demand the sovereignty of their state over its resources that were usurped in the name of peaceful treaties! Ignorant negotiators presented her at a table that brought shame and misfortune to generations whose dream has become to escape from the hell of unemployment and political repression, wrapped in the transparent sheet of reform.

And yet

The destruction of people’s moral compass in their concerns and reactions, and then their defense of their rights and their victory for the truth, will make our rise more difficult and our downfall more painful and more harmful.
