The angry reaction of Marianna Stamatiadou, longest serving member of the DIPETHE Board of Patras and president of the “Friends of DIPETHE” Association. Patras”, caused yesterday’s revelatory report by “P”, about the transformation of the “Apollo” theater from… a popular dormitory, now also into… an open-air toilet!
Mrs. Stamatiadou asked publiclythe awareness of the Municipal Authority, which, however, like the Cultural Organization, did not show any reaction, now showing that the degradation of the surrounding building of Ziller, may also be a political choice.
But there was no reaction, nor by the competent Service of Newer Monuments, to which the theater belongs, as a preserved and protected newer monument that it is. A fact that causes a reasonable question, but also concern.
On the contrary, the report of “P” was duly commented on on social media, with users extolling the indifference and ineptitude of both the council and the New Monuments Service.
“SHAME SHAME SHAME”
Under the emphatic title “Shame, Shame, Shame”, Ms. Stamatiadou notes in her caustic announcement:
“How is it possible, in the third city of Greece, that there is such indifference to its attractions. Once again, I refer to the jewel of our city in the “Apollo” theater.
This monument, which we should take care of “as the apple of our eye”, has been completely abandoned. Ernesto Ziller’s masterpiece, which this year marks the 100th anniversary of his death, resembles an abandoned building.

When will the municipal authority finally become aware to take care of the monument of Patras and let’s not forget that inside the theater work is being done by the Ministry of Culture to restore the theater.
