Award-winning singer-songwriter and photographer Pete Kartsounes is bringing his musical journey across the 500-mile Camino de Santiago to audiences through an upcoming presentation and discussion event titled Along the Way
(Unity Central Oregon Coverage). Based out of Bend, Oregon, the artist spent April and May of this year walking the historic French Route of the pilgrimage through Spain, stretching from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, France, to Santiago de Compostela.
Kartsounes used his guitar and newly composed music as a unifying tool to connect with fellow travelers from around the globe while on the trail. The upcoming free community event invites attendees to explore his pilgrimage through a combination of original songs, imagery, and personal stories, alongside an open question-and-answer session regarding the journey.
Three Decades of Music and the Camino Experience
With a career spanning more than thirty years, Kartsounes is widely recognized for his eclectic acoustic performances, guitar work, and distinctive vocals. His recent 500-mile trek across Spain yielded an entire album’s worth of new material inspired by the profound landscapes and human connections encountered along the route. Titled Camino Songs, the new recording is scheduled for release in December.
The presentation provides local residents with an early look into the creative process behind the project, detailing how outdoor adventure and nature weave into his songwriting. The event is coordinated locally through Deschutes Public Library contacts, offering a direct link for community members wishing to learn more about the program.
