Doesn’t want to do Putin any favors: Defense Minister Pistorius in Berlin on Tuesday

The defense minister calls the Taurus wiretapping a “perfidious game” by Putin. Although he sees serious mistakes on the part of the Bundeswehr, he does not want to fire anyone.
FSince Saturday, technical experts from the Military Counterintelligence Service have been trying feverishly to find the leak through which the Russian secret service was able to penetrate an air force leadership conference. Have the ministry’s technical firewalls been breached? Or had a mysterious third party dialed into the meeting where Air Force Inspector Ingo Gerhartz spoke in a relaxed tone to a very close circle about highly explosive questions about the Taurus cruise missile?
Already on Sunday, Defense Minister Boris Pistorius emphasized at a short-term press conference that he wanted to see the eavesdropping attack less as a Bundeswehr breakdown than as an attack by Russia as part of its hybrid warfare against the West. Pistorius warned urgently against using the debate for further domestic disputes over the Chancellor and the Taurus, as that would only be in Moscow’s interests.
