There are often plenty of freebies offered to PlayStation Plus subscribers, but this weekend even those without a subscription will be able to enjoy a range of free games at no extra cost. We definitely have that Friday feeling now!
Think of it as a kind of early Christmas, with the magic it brings as fleeting but valid as the holiday season. From 12:01 a.m. on December 9 to midnight on December 10, players will be able to access a range of multiplayer games normally only available through PS Plus or by purchasing the games individually.
This means that players will be able to play games with friends like the recently released Modern Warfare 3. We know the game has been mixed so far, but that hasn’t stopped it from breaking records since release, so something has to be worth it… we’re just not seeing it, personally. At least, not easily.
As you would expect with this giveaway, the end goal is for those not currently on PS Plus to then sign up to continue playing online with friends. The problem with this logic, however, is that Sony’s PS service isn’t exactly doing well lately, with the January 2024 free games lineup already looking pretty bleak.
Still, despite all the negativity towards the service, there are some great open world titles out there, so it’s always worth checking out the full PS Plus catalog before deciding the service isn’t for you.
The next PS free online multiplayer weekend is just a few hours away; you can take it or leave it, but make sure you prepare yourself for that FOMO if you decide to skip this huge weekend of giveaways. Let it be on your head. And remember, this weekend is available to all PS4 and PS5 players, whether you own PS Plus or not.
