VATICAN CITY.- This Sunday, the Pope Francisco encouraged politicians to “stop a little and try and negotiate” the peace in Ukraine and between Israel and Palestineand expressed his support for “all” those who work to reduce war tensions.
“May our prayer for peace not fail, for a just and lasting peace, in particular for the martyred Ukraine and also for Palestine and Israel,” encouraged the pontiff from the window of the Apostolic Palace after the prayer of ‘Queen Coeli’which replaces the Angelus in it easter period.
The Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church, before hundreds of people listening to him from St. Peter’s Square, expressed his wish that God “enlighten and support all those who work to reduce tension and favor gestures that make negotiations possible.” .
“May the Lord grant the leaders the ability to stop a little to try and negotiate,” he concluded.
International Day of Sports for Development and Peace
The holy father opted today for a sport that promotes social fraternity and that it does not aim only to obtain victories or profits, on the occasion of the International Day of Sports for Development and Peace.
“We all know to what extent practicing sport can educate an open, supportive and unprejudiced society, but for that we need leaders and trainers who do not aim only at victory or profits,” he said from the window of the Apostolic Palace after the ‘Queen Coeli’.

The successor of Peter stressed that it is a path that “at first glance seems attractive but does not satisfy the heart.”
“This is not how you ‘have life’, because by following the paths of pleasure and power you will not find happiness. In fact, many aspects of existence remain unanswered, such as love, the inevitable experiences of pain, limitations, and death. And, furthermore, the dream that we all have in common does not come true: the hope of living forever, of being loved without end,” said Pope Francis.
