The police and the public prosecutor’s office have opened an investigation following a possible kidnapping attempt which allegedly took place in Scherpenheuvel-Zichem, in Flemish Brabant.

According to Het Laatste Nieuws, a 16-year-old girl claims she was hit by a white van as she was cycling on her way to training on Tuesday.
The driver of the vehicle then allegedly forced him into the passenger compartment. “She was on the ground, and the driver stopped. But instead of bringing him help, he forced him into the van, ”explains the mother of the victim to our colleagues. “Fortunately, just before he left, she managed to escape through a window.”
But the story does not end there. “The man then chased her and caught up with her. He punched him several times and pulled him back into the car. He managed to drive off, but luckily she again managed to jump out of a window and fled, despite her injuries.
Soon another vehicle arrived. In it was a police officer, father of a teammate of the victim, whom he dropped off at training. “He was the one who called the emergency services.”

The family quickly launched an appeal for witnesses. Someone quickly posted the photo from a surveillance camera, on which we can clearly see a white van.
The prosecution confirmed that a man had presented himself to the police. This one affirms that he had an accident and that he did not remain on the spot. He was stopped.

The teenager was taken to the emergency room. She has several bruises and contusions. She is doing better.
