The session to present the interim outcome of the government’s work was postponed to a later date.

A joint communication to the two Houses of Parliament stated that the joint general session, which was scheduled to be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at five o’clock in the evening, to present the interim outcome of the government’s work, has been postponed to a later date.

Aziz Akhannouch, Prime Minister of Morocco, was scheduled to present a progress report on his government’s performance before a joint session of Parliament, in implementation of Article 101 of the Constitution.

This session comes amid controversy raised by some members of the opposition about its constitutionality, given that the structures and organs of the House of Representatives have not yet been completed, which is considered a violation of the constitutional spirit.

Some representatives have called for the Prime Minister’s visit to be postponed to a later date, until the House of Representatives office is elected and the team leaders are determined. But the Presidency of the House of Representatives rejected these requests and affirmed the constitutionality of the joint session.

This session is the first of its kind attended by a new prime minister before Parliament after the elections of September 8, 2021.

This session is of special importance for the opposition, as it will be an opportunity to question the Prime Minister about his government program and plans for the future.

The session was expected to witness a heated discussion between Akhannouch and members of the opposition.

The latter may issue a statement after the session expressing its position on the government’s performance.
