Prevention and health at work, a crucial issue for companies

In a constantly changing professional world, prevention and occupational health services are faced with major challenges. The aging of the active population, professional wear and tear, the feminization of the active population, the modification of the relationship to work, new working methods (remote work, introduction of COBOTs in the industrial sector, rise in power of the artificial intelligence, etc.), chronic illnesses and the quality of life at work are just as many societal challenges to overcome and which require targeted actions.

And if the impact of prevention on people’s health is considerable, it also turns out to be a driver of economic and social performance for the company. By investing in the health of employees, it benefits from a reduction in costs linked to absenteeism and accidents at work, improves its image and the quality of life at work, thus strengthening employee loyalty and performance.

Horizon Santé Travail, an association with concrete actions for prevention and health at work

Horizon Santé Travail, Inter-company Occupational Health and Prevention Service, is a non-profit association, jointly managed by representatives of employers and employees. It positions itself as a key player in preserving the health and well-being of workers. With a team of 200 employees, including health professionals, workers in the prevention of occupational risks, professionals in charge of preventing occupational disintegration and social workers, the association offers comprehensive expertise to support companies, and in particular VSEs/SMEs, in improving working conditions and promoting health in the workplace.

The role of Occupational Health and Prevention Services? Avoid the deterioration of the health of workers due to their professional activity. An approach that revolves around 4 key missions:

Advise and support companies in the application of preventive measures to reduce occupational risks and improve the quality of life and working conditions; Ensure regular monitoring of the physical and mental health of employees throughout their career, taking into account the specificities of the workstation and the risks they face; Implement actions to promote health in the workplace, such as vaccination campaigns, screenings, initiatives aimed at raising awareness of the benefits of physical activity, as well as information and awareness-raising on the situations of disability in the workplace; Contribute to the collection of information on occupational exposure and to health monitoring, in order to better understand the risks and anticipate the necessary preventive measures.

Looking to the future: support for all workers

Since the Occupational Health reform resulting from the law of August 2, 2021, the Occupational Health Services, which monitor 16 million workers, have evolved into Occupational Health and Prevention Services, thus marking a new era in the promotion of professional well-being. The aim of this reform is to strengthen primary prevention in companies, to prevent occupational disintegration and to improve the individual and medical follow-up of employees.

More generally, it accompanies the evolution of our society which aims to gradually move from a culture of reparation to a culture of prevention.

Preserving the health of workers and reducing accidents at work requires acting in anticipation, analyzing risky situations, in order to put in place collective and individual prevention measures, in partnership with other health and of prevention.

Another significant advance of the reform is the inclusion of self-employed entrepreneurs and self-employed workers in the services offered by Horizon Santé Travail. They can now benefit from health monitoring and occupational risk prevention adapted to their activity.

Horizon Santé Travail is thus resolutely committed to the future, by broadening its field of action and by responding to the varied needs of workers, whatever their professional situation.
