Ten years ago, on November 2, two RFI journalists, Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon, were murdered in Kidal, in northern Mali. They were reporting when a commando from Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb kidnapped them, before executing them. If an investigation is underway in France to clarify certain gray areas, press freedom has been in sharp decline since 2013 in Mali and Burkina Faso, now led by juntas.
