Al-Marsad newspaper: Today, Saturday, the Public Health Authority “Weqaya” resolved the controversy on social media regarding the incidence of “water poisoning” and when this happens.

Weqaya explained that “water poisoning is a medical condition that occurs when there is a rapid decrease in the concentration of sodium in the blood due to an increase in the amount of water intake compared to excretion of water in the kidneys.”

She added that water poisoning can occur when drinking large amounts of water 3 – 4 liters, which is equivalent to 12 – 16 cups, within a short period of one to two hours, noting that it rarely happens.

Weqaya advised that it is necessary to drink 8 glasses of water at intervals from Iftar to Suhoor, noting that the body does not store water; So it must be kept hydrated.
