In the US state of Pennsylvania, the authorities are searching for a murderer who escaped from prison about a week ago – and have now published a video of the man’s escape. The recordings show how Danelo Cavalcante climbs up horizontally with hands and feet on two opposite walls. According to the authorities, the 34-year-old Brazilian got onto the roof of the prison in Chester County, west of the city of Philadelphia. He overcame barbed wire several times and was able to escape.
Cavalcante escaped from the prison on August 31. He had previously been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his ex-girlfriend. He killed the woman in front of her children in 2021 with 38 knife wounds.
The police are looking for the man who has been repeatedly filmed by surveillance cameras in the region. There is also said to have been an eerie night-time encounter at a local resident’s home: Ryan Drummond told US media he was convinced the fugitive broke into his home at the end of last week. “I woke my wife up and said, ‘I think there might be someone downstairs,'” Drummond told ABC.
He then turned the light on and off several times to let the intruder know he was there. He then also pressed a light switch several times – and finally left the house. Among other things, he stole peaches and apples, Drummond said.
Authorities have since offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to the capture of the fugitive killer. Police believe he is still in the area.
