The accident happened at 05:45 on Thursday in Sternberg (Bauma municipality). A 19-year-old Swiss man went over the right-hand side of the road in a left-hand bend near the hamlet of Gfell and collided with a tree. The driver and his 22-year-old passenger were slightly injured. An ambulance transported her to the hospital. Another passenger was not injured.
The accident happened “presumably because of massively translated speed”, as the cantonal police writes in a media release. After the impact, the engine block, which it ejected from the car, caught fire. It had to be extinguished by the alarmed fire brigade. (SDA/dept.)
