Regular flights between Helsinki and Tartu have been opened

Finnair launched regular flights between Tartu and Helsinki on Sunday.

At 14.35, 34 air passengers arrived from Helsinki, who were accompanied to the airport lounge by folk dance performers from the Tarbatu ensemble. Accordion music and saxophone quartet The Big Band Theory set the mood. Passengers received lemonade and chocolate “Tartu 2024” as a gift. At 15:00 the return flight to Helsinki with 29 passengers took off.

“Air connections are very important for the development of Tartu and the entire region of Southern Estonia,” said Tartu Mayor Urmas Klaas. – The current flight schedule offers good opportunities for both tourists and businessmen. This year we expect that culture lovers will also take advantage of air travel to enjoy the rich program of the European Capital of Culture. I hope that the possibility of flying from Tartu will be actively used,” said Klaas.

According to Finnair Marketing Manager Arūnas Skuja, the opening of the flight is significant at a time when Tartu is the cultural capital of Europe. And last week, Finnair celebrated the anniversary of its first flight, which took place exactly one hundred years ago, on March 20, 1924, from Helsinki to Tallinn.

“We are pleased to return to Tartu and also to offer customers from Tartu and Southern Estonia good air connections from our company network around the world,” said Skuja.

There will be 12 flights per week between Tartu and Helsinki. The plane will depart from Tartu at 6 am and 3 pm. Flights to Tartu will depart from Helsinki at 13:50 and 23:55. The flight duration is 40-45 minutes and 72-seat ATR aircraft are used.
