Our colleagues from L’Avenir told us this morning, the former elected socialist Hassan Idrissi ended his life this Sunday, May 7. Father of three children, he was only 46 years old. In 2018, he replaced Dimitri Legasse as a Walloon deputy for six months. Dimitri Legasse knows him well: “We walked for 15 years together”. The president of the Brabant federation of the PS says to himself “hard hit“by the loss of his friend,”he was an atypical character, controversial but very endearing” he confides with immense sadness.
Hassan Idrissi is a politician who started from scratch. A man like everyone else who, little by little, rose through the ranks to become a Walloon deputy and at the same time a deputy to the FWB. The son of a Moroccan father and a Sicilian mother, his family has experienced its own difficulties. When he was only a teenager, his older brother committed suicide at the age of 25. Following this tragedy, the parents will separate regularly leaving Hassan and his little brother alone to manage. From this life experience, Hassan Idrissi found himself strengthened and understood all the better the complicated situations experienced by certain people.
Specialized educator by profession, the Brabançon quickly found himself in the world of local authorities Dimitri Legasse has “very well known”, he hired Hassan when he was Alderman for Sports in the early 2000s in Rebecq: “I think it was his first job by the way”. The Walloon elected representative describes Hassan as a good local football player but above all as an exceptional and hard worker: “He did a crazy job at the Maison des Jeunes regarding drug problems”. Dimitri Legasse also recalls his involvement in major events such as Rebecq with the Concerto à 1 euro. “He also had a great capacity for conciliation, the chat” adds the president of the Brabant socialists.
But Hassan Idrissi’s career does not end there, “he still wanted to grow”. In 2012, he became a municipal councilor in Tubize, on the podium to become an alderman. He will be very involved in municipal political life. He also became Dimitri Legasse’s deputy in the Walloon parliament during the 2014 regional elections. When Dimitri Legasse returned for a term as mayor in 2018, Hassan replaced him for six months in parliament. Even if the experience was brief, Hassan Issidri wanted to send a message of hope: “even starting from nothing, we can get there” he declared in 2018. During his mandate, he joined various commissions and worked on the development of a solidarity fund for children who practice sport.
