Traveling abroad is more popular among young people, while older residents often prefer to spend the summer outside the city, at their summer cottage, or just at home. The majority of residents plan to spend from 400 to 1,500 euros on a summer vacation, the survey showed.
Every third resident of Latvia is planning a two-week summer vacation this year, every tenth will have a three-week vacation in the summer, and 21% of respondents – four weeks or more. For the most part, men plan a two-week vacation, while among women there are more of those who are planning a vacation lasting four weeks or more.
Although a quarter of Latvians or 26% have not yet decided what they will do in the summer, half of those surveyed planned to travel during the summer months – 31% will travel abroad, and 19% will travel within Latvia. At the same time, 14% of surveyed residents indicate that they plan to spend the summer outside the city – at their summer cottage or in the countryside.
Traveling abroad is more often chosen by young respondents – almost 40% of young people aged 18 to 29 will travel outside Latvia in the summer. In turn, traveling around Latvia is more popular among residents aged 30 to 39 years.
