Let’s face it, we didn’t see this one coming. More than a decade after the Tales of Monkey Island from Telltale Gamesthe saga of point and click will return with an unexpected sixth episode. His name is Return to Monkey Island and will be developed by Terrible Toyboxthe studio of franchise designer Ron Gilbert to whom we already owe Thimbleweed Park.
It will be edited by Return Digitalin partnership with Lucasfilm Gamesentity born from the ashes of LucasArts, creator of the original games. the game designer and screenwriter at the time, Dave Grossman, will also return, alongside composers Michael Land, Peter McConnell and Clint Bajakian, who worked on Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge and their successors, and the iconic voice actor of Guybrush ThreepwoodDominic Armato.
The project has been in development for more than 2 years, and will see the light of day in 2022 on still unknown platforms (PCs are certainly in the front line). The first teaser does not show too much, but we can expect to find all the humor and aesthetics of the cult series.
