Saturday will set the table a bit in terms of stormy potential. The heavy rains also caused flooding in Shawinigan, Mauricie: the parking lot of a shopping center was totally submerged!
However, the risk increases a notch on Sunday. A well-organized low pressure system does indeed carry with it a scent of instability.
Several sectors under the magnifying glass
A wide band from the Outaouais to the Capitale-Nationale, including a good portion of the Laurentians and the Mauricie, is under a moderate risk of severe thunderstorms. The St. Lawrence Valley could therefore see several storm cells hatch during the afternoon and evening. The island of Montreal is also concerned.
In general, a good part of Quebec could hear thunder rumbling.
Good-sized hailstones could fall due to the cold aloft, and torrential rains are possible at the height of the disturbances.
