Turin Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov published the first post on Instagram (owned by Meta Platforms, the Tverskoy Court of Moscow recognized the company as extremist and banned its activities) after his hospitalization, in which he thanked everyone who worried about him.

“Thanks to everyone who worried about me, prayed for me, believed that I would get out of this difficult situation that life gave me! Many difficulties are still ahead, but I hope I will cope with everything thanks to my relatives, relatives and doctors who pulled me out of the other world and work with me to this day, ”Kostomarov wrote.

Kostomarov was hospitalized on January 10 with pneumonia. According to the director of Kommunarka, Denis Protsenko, the skater had minimal chances of survival due to total lung damage.

Sergei Tsarenko, director of the Ministry of Health’s treatment and rehabilitation center, said in February that Kostomarov’s treatment had led to “forced surgical interventions.” At the same time, there was no official confirmation that the 46-year-old skater, according to various media reports, underwent several amputations on the hands and feet and two strokes.

In addition to the Olympics, Kostomarov won the World Championship twice and the European Championship three times, paired with Tatiana Navka.
