(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Yuhan-ju = The Russian military announced on the 6th (local time) that it had destroyed two high-speed mobile artillery rocket systems (HIMARS) in Donetsk, Ukraine, Sputnik news agency reported.

Hymas, which the US applied to Ukraine, has raised expectations that it will be a ‘game changer’ in the Ukrainian war, in which fierce artillery battles take place, as it can fire multiple precision-guided rockets at once and has the mobility to move by vehicle.

Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed that “high-precision air-launched missiles destroyed two US-made Haimas and two ammunition depots in the town of Malotaraniuka in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR),” the Russian Defense Ministry said.

The US applied for a total of four Hi-Mars. In the middle of this month, 4 additional documents will be supported.

According to the Russian army’s claim, there are currently only two Haimas left on the battlefield in Ukraine.

Hi-Mars has a multiple rocket system (MLRS) mounted on an armored truck and can fire six precision-guided rockets at a time. It has a maximum range of 77 km, which is twice as long as the M777 howitzer previously supported by the US.

Since the missile is loaded into a vehicle, it can be moved to a safe place immediately after launch, making it easy to avoid enemy counterattacks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his anticipation by expressing special gratitude to the United States for receiving the aid from Haimas.

Ukraine used former Soviet-made MLRS such as Smerch and Uragan before receiving Haimas, which are outdated weapons that are easily exposed to counterattacks and have poor firing accuracy.

Earlier, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), a US media outlet, reported that the Ukrainian Army was using the Hymas deployed in combat on the eastern frontline to precisely hit the main targets of the Russian army and achieving results.
