[モスクワ １日 ロイター] – The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on the 1st that it repulsed “pro-Ukrainian militants” who invaded Belgorod region in western Russia, which borders Ukraine. Some civilians were evacuated after heavy shelling and what appeared to be drone attacks in the area.

Ukraine denies involvement in cross-border attacks. It is believed to have been carried out by Russian volunteer combatants.

Separately, Belgorod governor Gladkov wrote on the messaging app Telegram on Monday that an unidentified device exploded in the state, injuring two people. A drone is believed to have landed on the road.
