“I don’t want to let the Academy of Oscars decide if my career is a success or a failure”.

If he still has an Oscar adorning his mantelpiece, Samuel L. Jackson only received an honorary Oscar for lifetime achievement. But who cares, the cult actor of Pulp Fiction does not at all want to run after the roles with statuettes! As he confides in a recent interview with the Los Angeles Timeshe greatly prefers to star in Marvel blockbusters that bring in billions at the box office:

“Of course I was jaded by this topic, thinking I should have won an Oscar for this or I should have won for that, but it didn’t happen…Once I got over that feeling, many years ago now, it hasn’t been a big deal for me! I always enjoy going to the Oscars. I always look forward to getting a gift basket because that I gave a prize [Rires] I give stuff to my loved ones; my daughter and wife leave with stuff. It’s cool… But otherwise, I moved on.”

Samuel L. Jackson Delivers New Details About Nick Fury’s MCU Series

“I don’t want to let the Academy of Oscars decide if my career is a success or a failure”he insists. “My criterion for success is my happiness: am I satisfied with what I do? I don’t make films to hunt statuettes. “If you make this film, you will win an Oscar!” No, thank you. I prefer to act Nick Fury. Or having fun being Mace Windu with a lightsaber in hand!”

Samuel L. Jackson goes after his idea and explains that he prefers to give up the roles at the Oscars to make films “that people want to see! He’s the guy I chose to be and that’s fine with me. I’m satisfied because that’s who I am. I’m the guy who throws lines that people print on T-shirts. There are actors who do their whole career and no one can quote a single line of theirs…”
