Duel Mode and the New Super Slot Mechanic
According to the development team, managing distance and item timing in this mode causes races to unfold in entirely different ways,
whether played online or offline against human opponents or CPU drivers (PlayStation. Blog).
The centerpiece of the Version 2.0.0 patch is Duel Mode, designed to take focus from traditional 12-player chaos to head-to-head competition. Players can also utilize the new Duel Boost mechanic during these showdowns.
Reached upon attaining the Grand Master Plate after completing 40 or more races, placing a one-slot gadget here amplifies its effects.
For deep customisation, the update introduces 15 new gadgets and a dedicated seventh slot on the Gadget Plate known as the Super Slot. Other additions include weekly Play Missions rewarding Donpa Tickets and Duel Medals, an in-game exchange shop, and expanded World Match options split between Ranked Match and casual Free Match.
Godzilla Pack Arrives for Year Two
The standalone DLC costs $5.99 USD, while Season Pass Two is available for $29.99 USD.

Kicking off Year Two’s paid content is the Godzilla Pack, which brings Toho-themed machines—the Godzilla Cruiser, King Ghidorah Coupe, and Mothra Surf—alongside the Godzilla Escape
course and additional jukebox tracks.
Free character updates also mark the start of Year Two. Fan-favorite Bayonetta joined the roster on November 3, 2026, unlockable via Rival Duel matches. She will be followed later in November by McLaren Racing (Sonic), and by Aigis in early 2027.
Sega Implements Extensive Competitive Adjustments and Festival Overhauls
SEGA has implemented extensive competitive adjustments across the board. Collision rebound has been reduced to prevent players from being knocked off narrow paths like the Aqua Forest shortcuts. Item balances now render users immune to their own Homing Punch and Slicer attacks, while wall bounces for forward and backward throws are capped at two.
Festivals have also grown substantially, with durations extended from three days to 10 days and rankings now determined by win streaks rather than cumulative Festival Points. A specialized limited-time Godzilla Festival is scheduled to run from November 5 to November 15, 2026.
