“From a standing start, she catapults herself to the top of local rap,” writes the “Falter” about rapper Spilif’s “amazing flow” and “cool, slightly scratchy voice.” With “something that you love”, the Tyrolean has presented a relaxed, eloquent and rousingly grooving debut album that, with its complex lyrics, invites you to listen to it several times.
She recorded the music with a band – these sounds attract with analogue charm. What Spilif and her producer Rudi Montaire have previously built with samples has been conjured up instrumentally in the studio. Spilif derived her alias name from her real name Bettina Filips (you can read her family name from the back).
Esrap recently presented their third album “…because they don’t know Vienna” at the Vienna Konzerthaus. This time the siblings Esra and Enes Özmen worked with the polyglot Viennese rock band Gasmac Gilmore. In addition to Enes’ arabesque melodies and Esra’s powerful lyrics, there is also a strong portion of guitar sound. Powerful sound, heavy lyrics.
The collaboration with Gasmac Gilmore has existed since 2019, back then they released an EP with five tracks, then Corona ruined further plans – now they have resumed the collaboration, produced new material and re-released “Freunde ihr”, the hit from back then mixed.
