Spreaders of rumors about mass poisoning of the population were exposed in Latvia

“In our society there are people who take advantage of every opportunity, targeting a small but gullible part of the population who look for and find conspiracy theories everywhere,” says Martins Kaprans, doctor of communication sciences and leading researcher at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the University of Latvia, commenting on the numerous videos that flooded social media last week.

The videos claimed that it was not dust from the Sahara Desert that actually damaged air quality, but the deliberate spraying of toxic substances. The authors of these videos are representatives of various small parties that are running for the European Parliament. One of the most famous is former Foreign Ministry employee Rudolfs Bremanis, who was later accused of embezzlement. In the elections to the 14th Seimas, he ran on the list of the party “To each and everyone”, and now he has joined the party “Young Latvians”, another candidate from which is Gloria Grevtsova, who lost her mandate as a deputy of the Seimas because of her lies to the Central Election Commission.

True, Bremanis and Grevtsova did not agree on the versions – Grevtsova, on the contrary, published a video in which she claims that there is no air pollution at all, just as there was no covid, and warnings about air pollution are just theater.
