Sweden’s prime minister has announced tough measures in response to the country’s gang crisis. After a brutally violent month in Sweden, where shootings and bombings were a daily occurrence, Sweden decided to crack down on the gangs responsible for the attacks. Clashes between gangs are nothing new in the country, and there are already 61 “no-go zones” where the police don’t even set foot. There have been 125 bombings in the country this year alone. In recent years, things have deteriorated to such an extent that, according to the police, the situation has not been this dangerous since 1945, in fact, some police officers have warned that there is a risk of a “systemic social collapse” if the things. On Thursday night, for example, two people were shot and a 25-year-old woman was blown up in Uppsala, a large city in Sweden. The woman had nothing to do with the underworld, she just lived next door to a gang member who was the actual target of the bombing. However, the force of the explosion was so great that the young woman living next door also lost her life. The Uppsala police stated that “the current situation is inhumane, inexplicable and without limits.” By the way, there have been 125 bombings in Sweden this year, which means that there is one almost every second day. The Swedish Prime Minister is ready to take tough action against organized crime However, as a result of what has happened, it seems that Sweden is finally taking tough action against the gang crisis. The Swedish Prime Minister gave a speech to the nation on Friday night, in which he outlined new, strict measures. “This is a difficult time for Sweden. A 25-year-old woman went to sleep on a perfectly normal night. But they didn’t let him get up. He was killed this morning in a bomb attack in Uppsala… A week ago, a 70-year-old man went to a bar in Sandviken to spend time with his friends. But they didn’t let him go home… He was blind and was shot dead… My thoughts are also with the three children aged 13, 14 and 14 who were found murdered in the forest on the outskirts of Stockholm… Now more children and completely innocent people are falling victim to this serious violence. I can’t say enough how serious this is. Sweden has never seen anything like this. There is no other country in Europe where we see this…” said the Prime Minister in his speech on Friday evening. “How did the situation get so serious? The fact is, there are many of us who saw this coming and warned about it. This organized crime has grown to this size in more than a decade, and fatal shootings have tripled in just 10 years. Political naivety and ignorance led here. Reckless migration policy and failed integration brought us here. Exclusion and parallel societies fuel criminal gangs. Here they can boldly recruit children and raise future killers. Swedish law is not designed for gang wars and child soldiers. But we are changing that now. This Government will change immigration policy… We will double the sentences for serious gun and explosives offences… We will introduce sentences to ensure that the most dangerous criminals never get out of prison. And we will deport foreigners who are members of criminal gangs, even if they have not committed any crime… We will take the necessary steps. Everything is on the table. I have called in the chief of police and the commander-in-chief for tomorrow to see how the army could help the police in their work against gangs… We will do what is necessary to restore security in Sweden.” – concluded the Prime Minister’s speech. So it seems very much like the Swedish Prime Minister is really ready to take action against organized crime, which is quite surprising, given that he has to put aside political correctness to do so. On the other hand, when even the police warn of a “systemic social collapse”, it is difficult to ignore the situation.
