Affiliates to the Unitary Union of Education Workers of Peru (Sutep) will abide by a mobilization next Thursday, February 23 to demand that the Minister of Education, Oscar Becerrathat he keep his word and pay in the shortest term the bonus of S / 950, which was the product of a negotiation.
Lucio Castrogeneral secretary of Sutep, pointed out that this bonus has already been paid at the national level, but only Lima is missing. This means that 70,000 teachers and 8,000 hired and appointed assistants in Lima still do not receive this amount. He specified that Congress is not accelerating the approval of the bill that would allow Minedu to modify its budget and facilitate the payment of this bonus to teachers in Lima.
“Congress must meet the expectations of the population. We ask that you speed up the regulations, the modification of the corresponding Law (of Budget); in such a way this bonus will be viable. Otherwise, this mobilization will take place, ”he pointed out.
He explained that the money is budgeted and only in the case of Lima is this legal norm of Congress required. “We did not find that speed.”
For his part, the Minister of Education, Óscar Becerra, said last Sunday that the bonus will be paid no later than March, but the leader Lucio Castro reminded him that the commitment was in January.

Teachers will mobilize next Thursday towards Congress or the Minedu to demand not only the payment of this bonus but also another claim: that the Government take into account the teachers and educational assistants of Lima in the payment of 30% for class preparation. In this regard, the Secretary General of the Sutep Metropolitan LimaGilmer Meza, said that very few teachers are being paid as a product of those 200 million destined for that purpose.

The president of the Congressional Budget Committee, José Luna, announced that today, Friday, the Plenary would vote on this initiative to grant extraordinary bonuses to teachers and educational assistants in Lima, as well as administrative staff.
