A new version has appeared in connection with a car that burned down recently near the presidential castle in Riga: this car is related to Janis Akmentins, a former SRS employee who was involved in an extortion scandal. Endo Lapsa, brother of the well-known publicist Lato Lapsa, reports this on his Twitter account.

Last year, Akmentiņš was mentioned in the Nekā Personīga (TV3) program as a defendant in the case of extorting a bribe from the owner of Stiga RM, Andris Ramoliņš.

In the declaration of a state official for 2020, it is indicated that Akmentins really owns a car of the following make and model (“Mercedes-Benz CL 500”, 2004).

As already reported, on April 19, the State Police received a call at about 13:20 that a Mercedes-Benz car was on fire in Pils Square in Riga. According to initial information, the car caught fire for technical reasons. Nobody was hurt in the incident.

However, as you can see, the state of emergency at Pils Square continues to be discussed.
