ImaOne is a medical imaging consolidation company in France which campaigns for the independence of doctors, innovation and access to care.
Facilitate access to care
ImaOne was born after COVID-19, with Imapôle Lyon-Villeurbanne as a starting platform, a merger of the Medical Imaging centers of three large clinics in Eastern Lyon. Supported by BpiFrance and Nov Santé, the project aims to bring together French radiological and nuclear imaging groups to offer patients better access to care on the national territory by working on resilience and high-volume care provision.
In a context of an aging French population and a deficit in medical and paramedical demographics, it is now necessary to carry out more examinations with fewer resources. In order to avoid diagnostic delays and longer lead times, ImaOne focuses first on technological innovation. “Powered” by artificial intelligence (AI), innovative imaging equipment allows for a shorter examination time with increased quality (faster acquisition, improved image quality and resolution and suspicious areas designated by AI ), further reducing processing times.
Thanks to advanced tele-expertise systems and the networking of centers, ImaOne also encourages doctors to participate in efforts to combat medical deserts alongside the public force by investing in satellite sites.
Supporting radiologist doctors
On the professional side, ImaOne supports the sharing of know-how and engineering (flow management, digitalization, AI, and cybersecurity), the exchange of good medical practices (Best Practices) as well as the creation of structures allowing cost savings (group purchases for example). The aura conferred by the solidity and seriousness of ImaOne also makes it possible to improve the recruitment of member centers. Furthermore, in a context of generational transition (70% of imaging doctors are over 55 years old), entry into the capital of an imaging group can constitute an obstacle for young doctors. ImaOne offers them a low-cost investment with a gradual increase in capital and support in specialist expertise as well as in entrepreneurial stature (Grandes Ecoles training).
In addition to Imapole, three major imaging groups have already joined ImaOne. Structures that join ImaOne maintain their medical independence in terms of activity, practices, production, decision-making and recruitment. In exchange for ImaOne’s participation in the capital of the structure, the doctors in turn invest in ImaOne. The holding company, made up of the vast majority of doctors, thus guides the group’s strategies.
The company now aims to reunify radiological and nuclear imaging to ensure continuity of care. Other areas of development in the months and years to come: interventional radiology and in particular minimally invasive radio-guided surgery, with research projects carried out in collaboration with research centers such as INSERM as well as development of expertise in AI as an early adopter. ImaOne hopes to reach a turnover of 100 million euros within 3 years, and to be able to cover a sufficient healthcare territory to be able to respond solidly to the problems of medical deserts.
